Up this episode in the “My Hero is More Obscure Than Yours” sweepstakes is The Viking Prince. The Legion of Doom (they don’t really call themselves that, but I will) decide to steal the body of the Viking Prince to learn his secrets of invulnerability. Bad news, though: the body is sitting in a viking ship that’s sticking halfway out of a glacier. And said glacier also is host to a summit of diplomats meeting on global warming issues. And one of those diplomats is Princess Diana.
I think the episode would have made more sense had we seen some of the heroic feats that the Viking Prince was involved in, but overall, it was much better than the last episode. Still, considering that J’onn makes an important choice in this episode, it would have been nice if it had been more about him, rather than Wonder Woman. I suspect we’ll be seeing J’onn infiltrate the Legion of Doom this season, perhaps.
Speaking of which, the Legion of Doom makes a more overt appearance this week. Considering the massive brain power of Grodd and Luthor, you would think the Legion’s plan would have been a little more covert that “let’s attempt to steal a viking ship with harpoons.” Sort dials down the threat level. I wonder if all the villains know that Grodd is implanting mental time bombs in each of them.
So, the scorecard so far: two good episodes followed by two so-so ones. One thing I’m a little annoyed with: the credits don’t seem to list all the voices in the episodes.
Next time: Flash and his rogue’s gallery.
