I’m a big fan or supporting casts, something that tends to be missing in a lot of comics these days (especially team books: it’s sad that the latest incarnation of the Teen Titans has no supporting cast, really, beyond two Superfriend leftovers; I miss Changeling’s crazy step dad, Sarah Simms, and, yes, Terry Long). Solo books are at least a little better (though none of Nightwing’s supporting cast have been memorable to me).
But Gail Simone’s given me my favorite supporting character so far this year in Atom #7: the Head. I can’t recall if he has a real name (comics are in storage, still). And really, with such great dialogue, who cares what his name is.
