Saw this on Boing Boing and found it very interesting. I just bought the Robinson Crusoe on Mars DVD from Criterion, and didn’t realize that Bill Sienkiewicz had done the cover. There’s a lot of detail on how the final cover evolved from the initial sketch.
As a movie, I think Robinson Crusoe on Mars is slightly better than its contemporaries, but I would not have thought it Criterion material (though they did release an edition of Armageddon). It is enjoyable enough, though the pacing won’t satisfy today’s audience.
