Miracle Monday 2010

It’s a rare, non-Twitter post!

Monday, May 17th is Miracle Monday!

"Shortly before four in the afternoon on the third Monday in the month of May, the people of the city of Metropolis learned the meaning of joy. They had no explanation for this feeling, and there were gaps in their knowledge of what had gone on in their lives so far that day. It was as though they were all waking up, or at least opening their eyes, for the first time in an awfully long time. The first thing many of them saw was the red-and-blue figure of Superman drawing a line across their sky, and he became the symbol of their joy. It felt like a miracle, though none could say why.&quot

It’s also one of those pretend holidays (well, aren’t they all) that I celebrate (Zombie Easter, Katemas, etc). While the Star Wars nerds have their awful May 4th crap, the real reason for the season is Superman. I’ll be taking the day off to do Superman stuff.

I’d love to be able to celebrate Miracle Monday by downloading some Superman comics for the iPad, but DC Comics in their infinite insanity doesn’t do digital comics. Instead, I’ve got the following plans:

  • Watching Superman related movies: Superman/Batman: Public Enemies and Crisis on Two Earths. I’ve had them sitting around for long enough.
  • Dressing up my puppy, Galatea, like Krypto the Superdog. Where’s that red towel…
  • I might read the Miracle Monday novel, too. It’s a pretty quick read, but good.
  • Take my dogs to the lake. Okay, no Superman-related reason for that, it’s just going to be a nice day.
