Nightwing and Starfire: DC Infinite Heroes

I’ve bought a few of Mattel’s DC Infinite Heroes line: mostly characters that I like (not attempting to collect a full set…yet). These are the 3 and 3/4ths inch character line, so are lacking in some detail/articulation, but are nice enough.

One thing that’s really nice, though, is that they actually got the Nightwing/Starfire scale correct (well, more correct than usual). Starfire is actually taller than Nightwing: something that artists seem to forget constantly, as do the toy makers.

I need to dig up my DC Direct Starfire and Nightwing: I think they were also in scale. Also, it would allow me to set up a great Nightwing/Starfire set up: I’ve got them as Mini-Mates, DC Infinite Heroes, DC Universe Classics, and DC Direct heroes. If they’d make a 13-inch Starfire, I’d be very happy.

Comic Character Resolutions for 2008

Instead of doing my own resolutions (yeah, yeah, more blogging, less weight, the usual), I thought I’d ask various comic characters what their resolutions will be.

Peter Parker: "I resolve to finally ask that Mary-Jane girl to marry me. What could possibly go wrong? "
Martian Manhunter: "I resolve to actually stay on a team longer than a week. #$!@#ing writers."
Robin: "This year, I hope to beat the snot out of that Damien kid. I can’t believe he’s beaten me up."
Nightwing: "Let’s see, I’ve done Starfire, Oracle, Huntress. Hmm, Batwoman and the Question in 2008."
Superman: "I resolve to be nicer to Dan Didio, since I don’t want him to pull a Quesada on me and Lois."
Blue Beetle: "To get more readers."
Supergirl: "I resolve to actually get a personality and stick with it for at least three months."
Batman: "I resolve to finally bring my parents’ murderer to justice, if I haven’t already done so in the current timeline. Even I can’t keep it straight."

Nightwing and The Red Hood

I don’t understand why Jason Todd wears both a mask AND a hood, yet everyone knows who he is, anyways. Anyhow, it seems to me that Countdown, folks are acting a little out of character: let’s take good old Donna Troy, who seems to have no problem just chatting with a serial killer like Jason Todd, rather than beating his ass. And Jason, who’s been portrayed as some punk serial killer, suddenly seems a little too cooperative with Donna.

And what about Nightwing? Weren’t the Monitors all up in his face about not belonging? Why isn’t he being included in the vague "let’s kill the second stringers" business the Monitors are running? It almost seems that Jason role in Countdown was originally supposed to be Nightwing, but something intervened.
