Today, I had a colonoscopy, and while prepping for it, I kept thinking about things that the doctor could say that would make me really nervous when going under for the procedure:

"Wow, nice ass!"

"Let’s see if the resident can do it right this time…"

"Fine, Kutner, do your colonoscopy. Thirteen, Foreman, let’s get a brain biopsy."

"Dr Palmer, I don’t think shrinking yourself is appropriate for this procedure."

"Dammit Jim, I’m a doctor, not a butt-spelunker!"

"We’ll have to improvise: Kate, get the painkillers from my tent; Sawyer, Sun, gather as much hollow bamboo as you can. Hurley, you’ll need to restrain him."

I see that Boba Fett is going to be a major character in a new TV series. All I can say is “Why?” What’s the big attraction of this character? Let’s take a look at his life.

Starts out as a whiny kid

Big moment in life: seeing his dad beheaded (I always wanted his dad’s head to fall out of the helmet when he picked it up)

Uses his awesome skills to follow Han Solo

Watches Darth Vader freeze Han Solo: way to not participate, Boba!

Takes credit for capturing Han Solo when turning him over to Jabba, despite not really doing anything

And, of course, the ultimate Boba Fett moment, sealing his reputation as the most fearsome and formidable bounty hunter the galaxy has ever seen:

Gets taken out by a recently unfrozen, blind, loud Han Solo, who accidentally smacks Fett’s rocketpack on, causing the most fearsome and formidable bounty hunter the galaxy has ever seen to flail his arms and legs around before getting eaten by a hole with teeth.

I’m sure his dad would have been proud, his son having a much lamer death. I’m trying to think of a lamer bounty hunter than Boba Fett, and no one comes to mind. Well, there’s Dog, of course, but he’s real, so doesn’t count. I can’t wait to see what incredible feats Boba Fett performs in the TV series. Perhaps he can get horrible maimed while attempting to rescue a cat stuck in a tree, or maybe he can slip on a banana peel and break his hip while staking out a Jawa trailer park. The possibilities are endless.

Spoilers Ho!

We’re four episodes into the new season of Legion of Super-Heroes, and up until this week I haven’t been too impressed. Sure, the season opener set the stage for the overarching plot this season: minor B-villain from the comics Imperiex is transplanted from the 41st century to the 31st, along with a clone of Superman. Pretty basic set up, done relatively well. The credit sequence spoiled the eventual death of one of Triplicate Girl’s personalities, and I think in general that her loss was glossed over. There was a very nice sequence with her remaining bodies using a mirror to form a triad, which almost made up for ignoring it the rest of the episodes.

After the initial two-part season opener, a fairly flat story dealing with Timber Wolf’s father came next. There wasn’t anything too interesting about the story, really. I loved Timber Wolf in the comic, but the animated version doesn’t do anything for me. The only interesting thing to me was Phantom Girl’s loyalty to Timber Wolf and her rather impressive fighting style.

The four episode, though, was terrific. "Chained Lightning" gave us the origin of Lightning Lad and his brother Mekt, while also updating the story of their sister, Ayla. It was both exciting and poignant. Plus, Shrinking Violet snorting when amused is just about the cutest thing I’ve seen so far this season. Her interactions with Brainiac 5 were also great fun.

They really need to do a Legion Espionage Squad episode, now that they have Chameleon Boy and Shrinking Violet around.

Overall, I am enjoying the new season, but the immediacy of Imperiex’s invasion seems to have waned quite a lot, and the new Superman seems more wishy-washy every time he appears (one week, he’s "We have to get Imperiex" and the next episode, Imperiex can wait. But I’ll keep watching.
